Eczema is the first manifestation of the so-called “allergic march” in atopic (high allergy-risk) families. Be vigilant for the development of asthma, allergic rhinitis, food and nut allergies in children with eczema. We recommend allergy testing in children with severe eczema as this reduces the risk of hit-and-miss elimination diets.
