Recent government legislation is welcomed called Benedict’s Law, that makes it compulsory for all schools with children under their care to have legally binding safeguards including “allergy and anaphylaxis aware” staff with basic knowledge how to deal with allergies, and to have spare adrenaline auto injector devices readily available onsite. Historically allergy provision and awareness at many schools has been good, but certain areas have had poor allergy provision. Now by law passed in House of Commons every school must have these provisions including readily available spare adrenaline auto injectors.

This follows the death of Benedict Blythe in 2021 having had an anaphylactic reaction at school where there wasn’t adequate anaphylaxis provision.
